The Disability History and Culture Collective (DHACC) is an intersectional alliance of people and organizations dedicated to identifying, preserving, and presenting disability justice, history, and culture.

Promoting and continuing the work of disability rights and justice advocates, we strive to build a more just, inclusive, and accessible society for everyone everywhere.

Background

The Disability History and Culture Collective formed after the March 4, 2023 death of disability rights activist Judy Heumann. Judy was committed to the preservation and celebration of disability rights, justice, history, and culture through compiling an online database of disability archives and resources; preserving physical collections; supporting disability history research and oral histories; and hosting disability history and culture presentations both online and in a physical space.
